After-School
Clubs are coming! Club list for Fall 2008 now

About After-school
clubs at Greenwood
All Clubs meet at Greenwood
Elementary. There are three club sessions during the school year and
a one-time registration form
must be completed before a student can attend a club. Due to safety
issues, no unregistered students can participate in clubs. They will
be sent to the office and their parent or guardian will be called to
pick them up. Each quarter, payment must be paid no later than the first
week of clubs to the Greenwood Elementary PTA. Please put the registration
form inside an envelope for privacy and write: Attention: PTA Treasurer,
Rhonda Thomsen for Clubs on the front. The student can bring it to their
teacher or to the office.
You are responsible for arranging
transportation after the club. However, carpools are a strong possibility,
so call or e-mail your club co-ordinator if transportation is an issue.
It is also possible that the North Seattle Boys and Girls Club may provide
transportation. Pick your child up on time. There is a fee of a dollar
per minute that you are late. Alert the After School Clubs Co-ordinator
promptly when your child will be absent for any clubs either by voicemail
or e-mail.
As long as there is space
available, the PTA is committed to having any Greenwood student participate
in a club that is age-appropriate. Please talk to the club co-ordinator
if there is any obstacle preventing your child from being a club member.
Scholarships and
Volunteer Opportunities
Partial scholarships are available upon request for most clubs.
However, we would really encourage you to volunteer if possible. All
volunteers must complete a mandatory background check which is valid
for two years.
Club Behavior Expectation
Immediate dismissal from the After School Clubs may occur if the student
is:
*Causing physical or emotional harm to him/herself or another person.
This may include, but is not limited to fighting, bullying, pulling
pranks, using objects as weapons, being unsafe with medical supplies
or equipment, not taking medications properly, or not eating properly.
*Risking the safety of self, other club participants or instructors/teachers.
*Not listening or co-operating with the instructor/teacher
*Causing damage to the physical facility or anything in it.
There may be one incident
that is major enough to warrant immediate dismissal or there may be
a series of minor incidents that warrant dismissal. We will notify the
primary contact person if there is a risk of dismissal. We suggest that
you review the behavior expectations with your child prior to them attending
the After School Clubs.
