Kindergarten Information
All Day Kindergarten tuition will be handled through Accounting beginning with the 2010-2011 school years. Accounting will:
ADK tuition is $2,370 for the year, payable in ten (10) equal installments of $237. Prepayment is acceptable, however no discount is offered.
No tuition fee will be charged for schools with poverty levels of 55% or more. Title 1 funds and State full-day kindergarten will be used to support full day programs in these schools.
The initial payment for September is due August 25. Families submitting Free and Reduced Lunch applications must file a letter of intent with Accounting by August 25. This information, along with the form will be mailed directly to families from Accounting. The letter of intent to file for FRL is necessary because applications for the 2011-2012 school year will not be verified until mid September. The letter of intent will also provide parental approval for Accounting to use the FRL information for kindergarten tuition status.
After the initial September payments, the $237 monthly tuition will be due on the last day of the preceding month. For example, October tuition will be due September 30. Invoices will be sent early each month, and the due date clearly stated.
If tuition is not paid on time, Accounting will make a reminder telephone call to the family on the 5th of the month. Progressive efforts for nonpayment will be a follow-up letter on the 15th of the month. If tuition is not paid by the 1st of the next month, Accounting will send a letter stating eligibility for ADK ends if tuition is not paid by the 15th. This letter goes to the family with a copy to the school. If payment is not received on the 15th, a letter will be sent to the family and the school stating that the child is no longer eligible for All Day Kindergarten. No late payment fees will be assessed.
If parents want to pay a full year of tuition instead of monthly, they should send a check for the full amount to Seattle Public Schools Cashier at Mailstop 33-343, PO Box 34165, Seattle, WA 98124-1165 with a note or letter indicating it is for a full year. Full year tuition should not be submitted earlier than May 1 and no later than August 31 in the year prior to when the student attends. No discounts will be offered for paying a full year of tuition.
Payment options at this point include checks and cash. No discounts are offered. Individual tuition refunds for partial month may be made if the student leaves a district school with paid ADK. Payments should be mailed to:
