Global Reading Challenge 2010-2011

Almost 50 Greenwood 4th and 5th graders are eagerly anticipating the kick-off of this year’s Global Reading Challenge! Sponsored by the Seattle Public Library, GRC is a reading program that encourages students to stretch their capacity to be an accomplished reader. GRC is designed for a wide range of reading abilities and is just plain fun! This year’s 10 titles will be introduced to 45 schools on November 1. For more information about Global Reading Challenge, please go to http://www.spl.org/default.asp?pageID=audience_children_global Thank you to the Greenwood PTA for funding the purchase of additional copies of this year’s GRC titles!

Reading Logs 2010-2011

If you lose your monthly reading log, don’t despair – they are available both in the school library and online at this site. Reading logs encourage children to read at home (or spend time with books, for pre-readers) and build on the responsibility of returning a monthly assignment to school. Please help your child at home by posting the monthly reading log in a prominent place, such as the refrigerator, and by signing it when it is complete. 20 minutes on 20 days is what is required for all students; however, we encourage students to read as much as they can at home. Thank you for your assistance!
